This Audio amplifier board module designed with an Onboard STA540 audio amplifier chip. STA540 audio amplifier designed from STMicro is a 4-channel, Class AB audio amplifier specifically for high-quality sound applications. The four independent channels in the module make this amplifier a perfect choice for a wide range of projects, with needs ranging from four speakers stereo (F/R) to two-speaker bridge solutions. This amplifier module is a fully functional, two-channel audio amplifier, complete with a standby switch, volume control and indicator LEDs. The kit also includes a 6400BG heatsink for the STA540 to dissipate any damaging heat.
The STA540 chip accepts a voltage supply ranging from 8 to 22VDC and has very high output power capability. Moreover, this amplifier provides single-ended outputs with integrated short-circuit protection, thermal protection, and diagnostic functions. In this module, the STA540 is configured as a dual bridge amplifier capable of delivering up to 2x 38W (4Ω at 18V). The Power supplied to the module directly powers the STA540 chip and should be within 8 to 22V. This STA 540 chip manufactured in a staggered-lead Multiwatt-15 package. And will breakout out all pins of the STA540 to a more standard single row of 0.1″ pitch headers.
In most of the audio signal applications, the audio signal from the audio output instrument such as a mobile phone, the microphone needs to amplify. In such cases, we use simple op-amp circuits so that we can play it over any speaker or stereo sets. But in the case of higher amplification, we need high power amplifier IC like the STA540Audio Amplifier.
